Oops, I did it again

It being disappearing for a time. I've just been so busy! And by busy, I obviously mean busy playing in the park and reading books and drawing and coloring and sewing and any other myriad of things with Camden. I've also been cursing my bad wrists. We've had mostly gorgeous weather, but every so often a cold front moves through, the temperature drops, and it rains. And my wrists (I have carpal tunnel syndrome) hurt like hell. Today, I lost all strength and dexterity in my hands. And I have a solo/senior recital on Sunday. Luckily, I've been playing my recital repertoire really well recently, so I don't think one day off will kill me.

On the good side of the spectrum, though... My parents are here for a weekend-long visit (due to senior recital, of course). And even better: my dad found some morels this morning before they drove up here, so I got mushrooms for dinner! First time I've had morels in at least a year, maybe two. We also had hamburgers and asparagus spears. Sooo good. More good: I ought to be able to sleep in in the morning. Both my parents are early risers, so Camden will bug them instead of me in the morning!

And this is a terrible update. Will update more Sunday night, hopefully with some AWESOME recital pics ^_^ (Maybe video, too!)

My Beltane

Well, now that things have settled down a bit and my computer is over its viral infection *grumble* I thought I'd let you all in on Cam's and my Beltane activities. Not that we did much, but it was still a pretty exciting day.

When we finally made it to my parents' house on Saturday, the first thing we did was get in my dad's truck and leave to go fishing! And, surprise, surprise, the fish actually let themselves be caught!

We also saw a small herd of not-so-wild and not-so-tame horses. Under the direct supervision of the stallion, we were able to convince one of the mares to let us pet her. Isn't she pretty?

We also made our toad house! Camden was all sorts of excited about it, and ended up taking my mom (Grammy to him) out to the garden to show her when she got home that night, as well as his cousins when they came to visit. We put it and a frog lamp (that may or may not have been stolen from one of Grammy's flowerbeds ^_^) right next to the 'entrance' of my tiny garden.

Camden was trying to walk along the rocks. The building that it's up against used to be a chicken coop, turned playhouse, turned chicken coop, turned hay storages for horse. But now it just plays the part of abandoned shed/wall for the grapevine.

Mushrooms

I had to go to my parents' yesterday to get my car fixed. And while I was there, my dad was basically rubbing it in my face that next weekend it would be in the 70's, perfect morel mushroom weather. And then he points out that I'm in prime mushroom-hunting territory. Of course, this is the man who only ever hunts mushrooms alone, just in case the person who goes with him spills the beans about where mushrooms grow. Honestly!

So maybe if it ever warms up here in the arctic north, I will go look about for some mushrooms, though I doubt that I'll have any luck. Which is depressing, because just looking at that picture at the top of the post makes my mouth start watering. Nom nom nom.
