my weekend in pictures

Cam and I spent the weekend with my parents. And despite some serious drama caused by my dad's ex, it was a good weekend. Cam and I took off Saturday morning to visit Haha Tonka State Park, which has the most beautiful views.

The rest of the weekend was spent playing with the hose, building fires, playing with fireworks (including mining out cicada holes with bottle rockets), and enjoying a thunderstorm. We left last night to take advantage of the cooler night temperatures. Glad we did, because I got to snap this picture of the clouds and moon, which looks like (to me) a bear trying to snatch the moon.

Happy Fourth, ya'll.

Little bee

We found this bee on the way to the park while looking for silly earthworms that crawl onto the road and can't get back into the dirt before the sun bakes them.

I don't know why it let us harass it. I think something is wrong with it's wings, and now it can't fly. :(

At first I thought it might be a drone, but then I noticed the pollen baskets. I never did see a stinger on it, though.

"Imma get you!" she says.

Cam's happy to have a new friend for the day. Right now, she's living in one of our flower pots outside munching on a dandelion. Or maybe the clover.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. Hope your day is full of wonderfulness (mine most definitely was; bees are so cool!)

Bedtime

It's really no surprise that bedtime stretches out to two hours when getting Cam to bed goes something like this:

(Guess who was going through old pictures tonight... These are from sometime in 07)

Bowling!!!

My parents came to visit Cam and I earlier this week, and I managed to convince them to take us bowling. And it was SO MUCH FUN! I hadn't been in years, and the last time I went, I did very poorly. So it was nice to go and have fun and do well. (I bowled a 128, which is pretty average, right?) Camden had a fun time, also, and has already started bugging me to go back. hehe Silly kid. :)

Wordless... Monday?

Okay, I feel TERRIBLE about having no time to post (or read others' bloggings). And I still don't have time to post (or read). But here are some pics. (I'll be posting more about the rat in a post coming this weekend, I promise!)

I was playing with my macro on the next two pics.

I just snapped this pic randomly but I absolutely LOVE how it came out.

Dandelion wishes

What's that, then?

A perfect specimen!

Pale little dandelion, in her white shroud,
Heareth the angel-breeze call from the cloud.
Tiny plumes fluttering, make no delay,
Little winged dandelion, soareth away.

Cam-zilla! (And other Easter pics)

I found my camera! It was hiding under a bunch of stuff in the back seat of the car. So now I get to post pictures of the egg hunt and the surprise picture Camden left for me. :)

Cam and I before the egg "hunt." I wanted a picture with him, but he didn't. Luckily, there was a train off in the distances, which got him to turn around, if not look at the camera.

Helicopter with bunny.

Camden after he's picked up all the eggs he could manage.

And, finally, SURPRISE! Cam-zilla! hehe I gave him the camera on the trip home (Aha! I just now figured out how it managed to travel from the front seat to the back. I'm so scatter-brained!) and this is one of the pictures he took. The other was of my elbow between the front seats. What a weird-o. :)

Tag!

Bogaman tagged me with photo tag.
Rules: Go to your first photo album and pick the tenth picture, post it, and tell the story behind it.

Tag five other bloggers.

*looks around* I think all the people I follow have already been tagged. So the line ends with me. Oh, well. :)

Once upon a time a young monkey named Camden found his mummy's camera. And wanting to be like his mummy, he turned it on and began snapping pictures of everything. Carpet, darkness, the TV, people (what he could catch of them) and feet. Lots of feet. His feet, his mummy's feet, his Bapa's feet, Grammy's feet, Auntie Red's feet. Probably even some dog and/or cat feet. However, most of these pictures came out upside-down, for which he really cannot be blamed, since the camera looks the same upside-up-ways as it does upside-down-ways. Somehow, though, probably a miracle, ALL of the pictures of feet were right side up.

....

I think my son has a foot fetish. Oh noes!

Imbolc

This morning Camden and I took our priapic wands to the nearby state park, and shook them at the trees, the ground, and the lake, yelling "Wake up!" Well, he was yelling, and I was humoring his excitement. ^_^ It was a ton of fun, and now he's all sorts of excited about Spring. And I'm all sorts of excited, because I can tell we were heard. After we finished waving our wands around awaking the world, we saw:

A stick! (He was pointing at it very excitedly just before I managed to snap a picture. So mad that I missed it!)

And

A heathen! Oh, no, that's just Camden. ^_^

And as we were leaving the park, we found:

these fellows, who refused to run away. I guess that was some tasty grass or something!

And later this afternoon, as we were walking about the town because it was quite toasty out, Camden found the sun!

He was so excited by it! I know he was excited, because I distinctly remember him saying "sun" about 10 times in half as many seconds.

So, although our Imbolc activities happened a few days early (since I'm crazy busy except for the weekend) we still had a great (and successful!) time calling upon the Mother Goddess to give us some light, some warmth, and some Springtime!

Priapic wands and ... orbs?

Lots of pictures today, so my apologies in advance for those of you who might have slower connections.

Yesterday Camden and I made our priapic wands. Rather, I let him pick out the ribbons and beads, and I made them. If only he knew how to tie knots! And thanks to this, I have no pictures of the process. :(

But I did get pictures of the finished wands on my alter, posing with my Goddess-figure statue. This is the best:

Cam's been playing with his quite a bit. I hope that by the time Imbolc gets here, he'll still be willing to use it.

As for the orbs... I finally got the pictures onto my computer from x-mas and New Year's. In the pictures from New Year's, there is an orb floating around. I'm about 80% certain it's not just a speck on the lens, because it's not there in later pictures taken just a few minutes later.

Here, the orb is hanging out just under Cam's left hand.

In this picture, it's a bit more difficult to see. Find his left elbow, and go almost directly right. It's at the edge of the picture, just hanging out.

And this one is so easy to see, I'm not even going to mention it. :D
